One night, I got a call about a patient who wanted to end his life.
His wife got an email titled: “Goodbye, my love.”
She quickly called 911.
Police made it to his home in time.
They found him holding a knife…
But convinced him to put it down and head to the ER.
When I got to the room, his file was labeled “CONFIDENTIAL.”
His eyes were tearful and filled with regret.
He was a famous preacher known for his money and charm.
His organization was juggling many big projects.
Each project drained more time and energy.
He couldn't find any time to rest.
Desperate for sleep, he started taking anxiety pills.
At first, they helped him drift off, but soon, he couldn't stop taking them.
Over time, the pills made him anxious and shaky instead.
One night, he couldn’t take it. He just wanted to end it all.
He prepared the farewell email to his wife.
Then scheduled it to be sent in the morning.
He grabbed a knife from his kitchen.
Within minutes, police were banging on his door.
How are they here so soon? He thought.
